Hey lovelies! Buckle up for this one because Jillian + Stephen’s downtown San Antonio wedding at Devils River Distillery was the kind of classy-meets-urban magic that makes my architecture-obsessed heart skip a beat. From getting ready at the iconic Drury Plaza Hotel to taking portraits at the San Fernando Cathedral and tying the knot at Devils River Distillery, this San Antonio seriously felt like it had it all.

Every detail was timeless, from the black and white color palette to the meaningful downtown photo stops. But I’ll never forget how joy-filled and FUN the whole day felt. We had elegance, we had emotion, we had architecture for days. This was a true downtown love story, babes.

From First Look to Last Dance:

A Classy Downtown San Antonio Wedding Filled with a Whole Lotta Heart

Jillian + Stephen kicked off their day at the Drury Plaza Hotel. While hotel-getting-ready photos are pretty par for the course with elegant weddings, I REALLY love to get creative with them. A few favorite moments were of Jillian after getting all dolled up and how STUNNING the soft lighting was in front of her suite window.

I also loved some of the old bank architectural details the hotel featured in the lobby and grabbed some great portraits of Stephen looking extra dapper in front of a gold, art-deco-esque wall.

San Fernando Cathedral Wedding Portraits

After a private first look and private vow exchange on the hotel’s rooftop, we wandered over to San Fernando Cathedral for portraits — and let me tell you, the cathedral literally elevated the vibe of the portraits. The stonework and architecture really took their Devils River Distillery wedding from modern speakeasy to old-world elegance. It was so fun to get that diversity in their photos (and for them to have some alone time exploring downtown).

From there, we mosied over to the ever-stylish Devils River Whiskey Distillery, the perfect setting for all the classy wedding vibes. Nestled right in the heart of downtown, the Distillery is such a gem — industrial vibes, gorgeous chandeliers and plenty of space to party. If you’re looking into wedding venues in San Antonio, Devils River is a must-see if you love that modern speakeasy vibe.

We even had time to sneak in a few more portraits before the ceremony started — it was a dream to have so much time scheduled before the ceremony to wander around SA and the venue. So if photos are important to you, I highly recommend working with your planner and photographer to give you lots of breathing room in between locations. The proof is in the puddin’ (photos).
