The Witte Museum is for them. 

Where else can you have a chic black-tie reception under literal dinosaur fossils? It’s dramatic in the coolest possible way without trying too hard. One minute you’re outside near the river with all this soft natural greenery, and the next you’re inside dancing beneath prehistoric skeletons while your aunt double-fists espresso martinis. It’s weird. It’s cinematic. It’s incredibly San Antonio.

2. The Red Berry Estate

If your wedding Pinterest board includes words like “old Hollywood,” “champagne tower,” or “dramatic entrance,” hi. I found your venue.

The Red Berry Estate gives ✨Gatsby meets modern magic✨ with a lakeside view, red-carpet vibes, and SO many rooms and backdrops to play with. The boardwalk at sunset? Dreeeeammmyyyy. Plus, it's just minutes from downtown SA, so you get the best of both worlds. Bonus? This place EATS at night. Candles reflecting off the water? Unreal.

3. Devils River Distillery

Okay but hear me out: moody downtown wedding with vintage-speakeasy energy.

Devils River Distillery is dark in the best way. Rich wood tones, exposed brick, dramatic lighting, whiskey-bar energy. It feels sexy and effortlessly cool. This is one of my favorite San Antonio reception venues for couples who don’t want their wedding to feel overly traditional. It’s giving “we threw the best party of our lives” instead of “formal banquet hall.”

4. Lost Mission

Just outside of San Antonio, Lost Mission feels sacred. Not in a performative way, but in a quiet, breath-catching kind of way. Everything about this venue slows you down a little. The white adobe walls. The warm wood doors. The bell tower against the Texas sky. It feels sun-soaked and timeless and deeply romantic without needing a bunch of extra production layered on top.

This is the kind of venue where you really don’t need much decor because the architecture already tells such a beautiful story. And the light out there? Babes. BABES. Some of the dreamiest golden-hour portraits imaginable (captured by yours truly, of course). 

5. Ivy Hall

For a little oasis set in the city (with a whole lot of funky heart)

Full disclosure — this venue has a very special place in my heart because it’s where I got married 💘

Ivy Hall feels like a secret garden party hidden in the middle of the city. You walk through the gates and suddenly there are tropical plants everywhere, funky little corners, string lights overhead, and this energy that just feels joyful.

It doesn’t feel overly polished, which is exactly why I love it. It feels alive.

If your dream wedding feels less ballroom and more “dinner party with all our favorite people losing their minds on the dance floor,” Ivy Hall is SUCH a good fit. Especially for couples looking for small wedding venues in San Antonio that still have massive personalities.

It’s weird. Colorful. Charming. A little chaotic in the best way. Very San Antonio.

This venue feels like a soft exhale.

The Gardens at West Green is a gorgeous little outdoor venue that delivers serious fairytale romance and flexibility. The light here truly hits different — soft, glowing, and golden. It’s intimate without feeling cramped, elegant without feeling stuffy, and honestly such a beautiful option for smaller weddings or outdoor receptions.

If your vibe is: “fairytale but make it chill”, this is your spot, honey. 

7. McNay Art Museum
