The Mansion at Colovista Editorial Micro Wedding

Once in a blue moon, a couple comes along that sees your work and sets your creative heart on fire…

Abby found me on Instagram and her initial inquiry stopped me in my tracks. Her vision? Dramatic lighting, thoughtful compositions, a mix of classic black-and-white film and soft, dreamy outdoor portraits. She wasn’t just looking for documentation—she wanted art. Moody interiors, quiet moments, and cool, intentional photos of her and Tino with their four guests. And the fact that she trusted me completely to bring it all to life? That was everything.

From their tender vows exchanged in front of just four guests to the relaxed, love-soaked lunch that followed, this day redefined what a wedding can look like—and I was so honored to capture every second.

The Mansion at Colovista:

Historic Grandeur Meets Cinematic Light

The Mansion at Colovista in Bastrop, Texas is one of those rare venues that blends historic charm with cinematic lighting. Outside, you’ve got sprawling bluff views, a perfectly manicured lawn, and oak trees draped in moss—basically the dream outdoor backdrop for wedding photos.

Inside, the vibe shifts to rich textures, moody corners, and dramatic natural light. Every room felt like a set of an old movie film, which made it perfect for Abby & Tino’s editorial and intimate wedding vibe.

Bluffside Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

With just four guests and one officiant, Abby and Tino’s wedding stripped away the distractions and zoomed in on what really mattered to them. Their loved ones spoke blessings over the rings during the ceremony and later shared heartfelt words about how much the couple means to them. It felt sacred and so beautifully them.

BECAUSE Their Love (and every love) is a Work of Art

After the ceremony and a few portraits with everyone, they headed inside for a relaxed lunch. Just the six of them. No big production. Just honoring the beauty of the moment.

After their toasts and lunch, we shifted gears into full-on editorial mode. The rooms at The Mansion at Colovista gave us so much to work with—natural light pouring in through tall windows, layered shadows, textured backgrounds. This is where we got to play with tone and mood, and I could honestly shoot in there all day.

Abby + Tino really leaned into these shots: black-and-white film, structured portraits, and a few moments that feel like you’re peeking in on a quiet scene from an old movie. Abby was all about that artsy look, and we had time to really go for it. This is the kind of session that lights my creative heart on fire—where the couple completely trusts the process. And since they were getting married on a Sunday morning with such a small guestlist, we had all the time and space to indulge in Abby’s vision.

Editorial Wedding Photos Meet Raw, Real Moments

My favorite part of their day was that it wasn’t about a packed dance floor or a giant reception for them. This was about intentionality. I had the chance to slow down, play with light, and connect with the couple and their people in such a much more intimate way. We shot both digital and film—including on my Hasselblad 500cm medium format camera, the Canon 1V (loaded with Kodak Portra 400 and Ilford HP5 film), and even a little point-and-shoot magic on the Olympus Stylus Epic.

The quiet portraits we created inside the mansion? The golden, editorial shots outside under that oak tree? My lovelies, it was absolute magic.

Some favorites on film

Christy was the absolute perfect photographer for our wedding day!! On the day of, she was calm, positive, and very go-with-the-flow. Her attitude really makes taking the photos relaxed and fun!! For the finished products, she took absolutely stunning photographs in both digital and film that had exactly captured the look I was going for. Highly highly recommend her for both a wonderful experience and wonderful photos that will last forever! :)
