Austin Motel Elopement Portraits with Mod Retro Vibes

Some love stories are all about the details. For Stephanie + Mike, it wasn’t all about their courthouse “I do”s. It was about celebrating their way, in their style–and it was such a vibe, y’all! These cuties booked a room at the forever iconic Austin Motel, got all dolled up, and invited me to run around the motel and South Congress with them. I had an absolute blast capturing all the retro, romantic, and straight-up unforgettable moments before they tied the knot.

Stephanie found me on TikTok and said she wanted something cool, nostalgic, and totally them. Say no more, babe. Between Mike’s crisp Navy dress whites, Stephanie’s sparkly showstopper of a dress and sweet little veil, AND the Austin Motel’s ‘50s backdrop, this session was a full-on love letter to Austin’s funky & fun-lovin’ soul.

ELOPEMENT Polaroids from AUSTIN

DIGITAL Portraits at the Austin Motel

We kicked things off at their Austin Motel suite — a swirl of vintage reds, cheeky wallpaper, and the kind of bed that begs you to jump on it. Champagne was popped, laughter filled the room, and from there we spilled out into the sunshine.

Out front, the infamous Austin Motel marquee gave us the perfect nod to a dip ‘n kiss moment.

The ‘50s-style pool gave us even more retro charm—think candy-striped umbrellas, lounge chairs made for daydreaming, and a perfect splash of summer nostalgia. It was like stepping into a Wes Anderson daydream… but blissed out on love.

Strolling South Congress

Portraits IN the city

From the Austin Motel, we wandered straight into the heart of Austin, traipsing the streets of SoCo. The crosswalks gave us that perfect “main character” moment with the skyline winking in the distance, we roamed, and we made a pit stop at Home Slice Pizza–because those red scalloped umbrellas were basically made for their retro-lovin’ vibe. Every block threw us a fun new vignette, and Stephanie + Mike moved through it all like the stars of their own vintage rom-com (like the total babes they are).

The Nostalgia is Real

While my digital shots were serving their usual crisp, cinematic magic, I couldn’t resist pulling out my little partner-in-crime: the Fuji x100v. Straight-from-camera film simulations that look like they’ve been living in a shoebox under your bed for 30 years—warm, grainy, and dripping in nostalgia.

The best part? I sent them these same-day, so they got to relive their retro Austin Motel moment before the night was even over.

Livin’ the dream

I absolutely LOVE that Stephanie & Mike did their elopement 1000% their way. No big focus on the courthouse, no big party afterwards, no following someone else’s script. Just the two of them, in love, dressed to the nines, and ready to make memories in a place that felt like them. It was literally sooooo much fun! They are my dream clients—the kind who totally trust me, let me do my thing, and roll with every wild idea… including immediately jumping on the bed the second I suggested it. Honestly? These are the days I live for.

“We couldn’t love Christy and her work more!! Such a talented photographer, with a great eye and so much fun to work with. She effortlessly brought our vision to life and the photos are everything we’ve ever dreamed of and more.Wish we could take her everywhere with us!” -Stephanie
